The Farm Technician position facilitates and assists with implementing farming activities to enable all research, education, communication, development, and production projects to function as designed. The Farm Technician will participate in project design through completion, carrying out all daily activities while maintaining activity logs. This position reports to the Farm Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Take part in the execution of day-to-day tasks
- Lead and/or supervise volunteers when requested
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and office space
- Operate between research plots, production fields, educational fields and animal facilities
- Clean facilities such as warehouses, barns, offices, storage facilities, and livestock facilities
- Maintain field operation logs for records and organic certification
- Tractor driving, using tractor-mounted implements, using irrigation, transplanting, seeding, cultivating, hand weeding, spraying, harvesting, collecting data, and any other field tasks requested
- Assist in planning and execution of landscaping pollinator habitats, including landscaping beds around facilities, pollinator habitats and riparian zones
- Use gas-powered and hand-operated landscaping equipment for a variety of purposes
- Maintain an aesthetically pleasing appearance across entire frontend of campus
- Prepare sites on main campus for weddings, meetings, tours, events, etc.
- Landscaping activities include transplanting, hand weeding, watering, seeding, dead-heading, harvesting, spraying, pruning, trellising, mowing, trimming fence lines, and any other landscaping tasks requested
- Assist with livestock care, including feeding, watering, cleaning stalls, maintaining pastures, setting up fences, moving animals to different areas and collecting data
- Maintain animal chore logs when requested
- Assist with greenhouse work, including seeding, weeding, watering, and moving plants
- Assist with farm supply deliveries and organization
- Assist with preparing sites for events, including moving chairs and tables, cleaning outside areas, and landscaping
- Participate in on-farm presentations and creating presentations
- Some weekend animal chores will be required
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 2 years of experience in manual outdoor labor, agriculture, or landscaping
- Ability to maintain and organize activity logs
- Ability to be flexible with scheduling, as farm work can be unpredictable
- Positive, motivated, and professional attitude
- Works well in both a teamwork-oriented environment and alone
- Able to lift and carry +50lbs
- Able and willing to work in any weather conditions
Travel:
- Some travel between local farms will be required
- Individuals must be committed to the farm’s success, and in turn, the farm will be committed to the individual’s success
