The Farm Ambassador will lead weekly guided walking and golf cart tours and scheduled special request tours of Rodale Institute, typically from May through October. The Farm Ambassador will develop a detailed knowledge of Rodale Institute’s history, mission and major research projects and meet with key personnel as needed to best inform visitors about the Institute’s ongoing work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop a strong knowledge of Rodale Institute’s projects and programs to best interact with tourgoers and ensure a positive visitor experience
  • Collaborate with the Visitor Center Manager for all communication related to the guided tour program, such as managing special requests and coordinating any off-schedule tours, answering questions submitted prior to a tour, and following up with answers to questions posed during the tour
  • Partner with the Development and Communications teams to schedule special tours and corporate volunteer groups
  • Other duties may/will be assigned on a case-by-case and as-needed basis
Qualifications:
  • Superior communication skills and ability to lead a group
  • Keen interest in learning
  • Ability to understand and communicate scientific information to a general audienc
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Positive and helpful attitude
Hours:
  • Part-time, highly variable (3 hours to up to 15 hours/week based on needs)
  • This is a seasonal position, May – October 2026
  • Custom, VIP and Donor visits will be scheduled in advance
  • Encouraged to participate in bi-weekly field walks on Mondays (8-12) led by RIFT facult
  • Encouraged to submit unanswered questions to Rodale team to grow knowledge bas
  • Encouraged to read/watch recommended content that reflects Rodale Institute mission, science and partnerships
  • Tours follow a regular schedule:
    • Tuesday and Fridays for – 2-hour walking tour for 40 ppl max/possible 24 per season
    • Thursdays – 1 hour guided golf cart tour for 8 ppl max/possible 42 per season
