The Director of Education at Rodale Institute will oversee the creation and execution of all educational initiatives, including farmer training, professional services, consumer education, field days at all Rodale campuses, webinars and more. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both in-person and online educational engagement, practical knowledge in curriculum development and experience in regenerative organic farming. This position exists at Rodale Institute's main campus in Kutztown, PA, and reports directly to the Dean of Education. The Director of Education will supervise 3-4 education team members.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Education at Rodale Institute will oversee the creation and execution of all educational initiatives, including farmer training, professional services, consumer education, field days at all Rodale campuses, webinars and more. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee existing Rodale Institute educational programs and initiatives, including Rodale Institute Farmer Training (RIFT), university partnerships, consumer education and inspector training
- Develop university level curricula, delivering regenerative organic farming education online
- Work with the Dean of Education to identify potential partners and areas of growth for the Education Department that align with the mission and vision of Rodale Institute
- Build on our existing online education platform by identifying market opportunities for online courses that serve the organic industry
- Work with our grant team to identify and write grants to fund education initiatives and program expansion
- Amplify our educational content by working closely with the Director of Communications to build awareness of our educational products
- Lead the execution of Rodale's field days at our main campus and regional resource centers annually
- Develop surveys, assessment tools and facilitate student feedback sessions
- Oversee the expansion of consumer education workshops at Rodale's historic Founder's Farm
- Work with Dean of Education to manage project and department budgets
- Contribute to the execution of education-related grant deliverables
- Manage a diverse team of educators and program managers
- Incredibly organized, with the ability to work with diverse programs and staff to develop a comprehensive strategy and execution
- 8+ years’ experience developing content for various educational programs (seminar, webinar, etc.) in a regenerative organic agriculture environment.
- 3 years' successfully managing a team
- Excellent communications skills (written, spoken, live and online) with the ability to represent Rodale Institute in speaking engagements, media interviews and with potential funders
- Experience managing programs and working with a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Proven track record in creating digital content and course curriculums, for the organic farming and organic consumer industry
- Strong and visionary leadership skills
- Experience with grant writing required
- Knowledge and passion for regenerative organic agriculture
- Strong understanding of distance learning technology and initiatives
- Minimum Master’s Degree in Education, Science or related field preferred
